Tom engages in all technical aspects of the histopathology workflow from start to finish, including grossing, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC)/special staining, and digital whole-slide imaging.
Tom earned his Bachelor of Science in biology with a concentration in microbiology from UNC Charlotte, then completed his post-baccalaureate training in histology at Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Scottsdale, AZ. As an ASCP-certified Histotechnologist, he has worked in routine histology and specialized in dermatopathology for several years. In addition to histology, Tom has experience in serology, hematology, analytical chemistry, and molecular testing.
Tom is an ASCP-certified Histotechnologist and Technologist in Molecular Biology.
